Mahanaz: A Story of Courage and Self-Reliance

Mahanaz, a determined entrepreneur with 42% locomotor disability, moved from Bareilly to Delhi (Jahangirpuri) in 2014, seeking better opportunities. She started making handcrafted bangles at home, depending on her brother to sell them. Despite her skills, she struggled due to limited mobility and lack of direct market access. Her turning point came in 2021 when she joined the Inclusive Divyangjan Entrepreneur Association (IDEA) and enrolled in the Entrepreneur Development Program (EDP). Through this, she learned essential business skills, marketing strategies, and financial planning.

With newfound confidence, she began setting up stalls at exhibitions and fairs, engaging directly with customers and expanding her business beyond home-based selling. Her journey from being dependent on others to becoming a self-reliant entrepreneur showcases her resilience and determination. Today, Mehnaz is not just a businesswoman but an inspiration for many other persons with disabilities who aspire to achieve financial independence. Let’s support her entrepreneurial spirit by visiting her stall and encouraging her growing business. Together, we can empower dreams and build an inclusive future!
